The government’s case
Insurgency-related violence is at multi-decade lows, defence production and exports have grown substantially, and digitised governance has reduced discretionary contact between citizen and official in licensing, subsidies and tax.
The opposition’s case
Accountability is measured by institutions, not incidents. Critics point to declining scores on press-freedom and civil-liberties indices, fewer parliamentary sitting days and committee referrals, and a thinner culture of public data release and independent audit.
